Kept My Head Up – Tia Ferrera
“Went through the struggle and the pain/ almost lost my way/ but I kept my head UP”
Tia Ferrera was born to sing. Being born into a family of musicians introduced her at a young age to music, but her love and passion for singing has paved the way to living out her destiny – becoming the recording artist that she was always meant to be. There are many titles that can describe her career choice, but just one title describes the essence of her soul, her heart and her voice: songbird. Her sound has been compared to R&B favorites including Tamia, Amerie and the late, great Aaliyah. Tia’s powerful yet soothing, and unique sound is certain to gain interest from across the globe.
Aside from her raw talent and passion, Tia has had extensive experience as well as training from the masters of her trade. She has trained with Grammy-award winning voice coach, Mama O. and has shared the stage with R&B sensation, Miguel, the lovely and talented, Goapele as well as Ginuwine and Def Jam Recording artist John West. Her experience includes, but is not limited to, performing at the infamous House of Blues in Hollywood, CA; a guest star appearance on Telemundo, which is the second largest Spanish-language content producer in the world; a music host for Macy’s “Get Fit” Campaign in conjunction with the Susan G. Komen Foundation and a feature artist performance at the San Francisco State University 10th Annual Tonight Show. Needless to say (but let’s say it anyway), our favorite songbird is an international sensation with a new album soon to be released that is expected to be successful and fame imminent.
Though she is blessed with success in her musical career today, Tia is no stranger to struggle and pain. To spare you the long version of the story, Tia gave up a secure lifestyle to move to Los Angeles and pursue her music career full time deciding to LIVE her dream, to BREATHE music, to IMMERSE into her passion, to SING her way to her heart’s freedom. With that decision came even more struggle, pain, rejection, heartache, and uncertainty… all of which Tia reflects in her music.
Just because something hasn’t been done YET… doesn’t mean it cannot be done at all -Tia Ferrera
Tia Ferrera has had quite the life’s journey and this is just another chapter in her story as she continues her journey her debut album “Its Complicated” is in the works to be released soon, along with her first single and music video for “Ladies Night” which was handpicked by executives at Sheikh Shoe Stores and placed in 142 of the company’s stores nationwide. She is also their first ever “Featured Artist” much to the excitement of her already nest-full of fans, also known as her “Fly Girls” A loyal fan chose that name because “[Tia] has the same impact on everyone she meets, she’s like this glow… of love, knowledge and all things fly.” She invites you into her world and into her heart through her unique, and melodious music. In her own words, Tia expresses:
“So here I am… embarking on my life’s journey… my dream… musician, singer, recording artist… (Whatever title fits now) filled with love, hope, faith, mistakes, imperfections, let-downs, joy and everything else I’ve experienced while making my dream a reality… I’ve put it all in my songs…music is life…my story is in the lyrics.”
